Day 5: Difference in development speed?

Day 5: apparently these two caterpillars are not developing at the same speed?

One seems to be in its second instar, the other one not.

About Abrostola moths

Abrostola is a genus of moths of the Noctuidae family.
Since I am in Croatia, my caterpillars might be one of the following:

Abrostola agnorista - a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in Romania, ex-Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, France and Hungary.

The wingspan is 24–32 mm. Adults are on wing from May to September in two generations depending on the location.

The larvae feed on Parietaria officinalis and Urtica species.

Abrostola tripartita - the Spectacle (Abrostola tripartita) is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found throughout much of the Palearctic ecozone including all Europe, Russia, Siberia Amur, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan.
